Over the years I have collected a few (less than a dozen) 1:24 and 1:18 scale cars which I display. I've got the #2 finishing GT40 Mk.II from 1966 in 1:18 and matching red Ferraris, one 250LM and one 250GTO in 1:24 plus a Cobra, Viper and a couple others. However, recently a friend has introduced me to the fantastic detail available in 1:43 scale models. Ixo, Minichamps, Vitesse Group and others are now producing these smaller cars in fantastic detail. These models are smaller and easier to display than the larger ones and are my substitute for art. I've also found that some of the new Scalextric cars are fantastically detailed and can be displayed as well. In fact, none of mine are ever likely to see a Scalextric track as I've purchased, with one exception, Ltd Edition models. New Additions: Ford Mk.IV Presentation car for 1967. First of the few. I've just received the IXO GTM009 model. Ford GT40 #8 C. Dubois/W. Mairesse - Le Mans 1968. I've just received the IXO LMC053 model. 1:43 Here are some pictures of my current 1:43 collection (not complete, but I'll keep working on it): #1 Ford GT Mk.IV D.Gurney/A.J.Foyt - Winner of Le Mans 1967. I've got two IXO models of this car, the standard LMC004 and the Le Mans presentation version, LM1967. #2 Ford GT Mk.IV B.McLaren/M.Donohue - 4th placed Le Mans 1967. I've got the IXO LMC009 model. #1 Ford GT Mk.IV B McLaren/M Andretti - Winner of Sebring 12hr 1967. I've got IXO model GTM007 of this car. #3 Ford GT Mk.IV M. Andretti/L. Bianchi - Le Mans 1967. I've got the IXO LMC010 model. #4 Ford GT Mk.IV D. Hulme/L. Ruby - Le Mans 1967. I've got the IXO LMC011 model. #9 "Gulf" Ford GT40 (rebuilt 1967 Mirage M.10003) Mk.I P.Rodriguez/ L.Bianchi - Winner of Le Mans 1968, this car (chassis # 1075) famously went on to become the first and only car to win Le Mans twice when Ickx/Oliver drove it to first in 1969 (badged as #6) after a famous duel with Hans Herrmann's surviving Porche 908. This race was the closest finish in Le Mans history with a lead of less than 100 yards after 24 hours. This is possibly the most famous and desireable GT40 in existance having won 4 other major races in it's career on top of the two Le Mans victories. I've got the standard Ixo model LMC025 and the Le Mans series IXO car LM1968. #10 "Gulf" Ford GT40 (rebuilt 1967 Mirage M.1002) Mk.I P.Hawkins/ D.Hobbs - As raced at Le Mans 1968. This car (chassis #1074) had it's best result when it won the Monza 1000km in 1968 at the hands of Hawkins and Hobbs. It's this car that I wish to replicate when I build a full size roadgoing GT40. I have IXO model LMC026. #11 "Gulf" Ford GT40 (Lightweight GT40 Mk.I) J.Oliver/ B.Muir - As raced at Le Mans 1968. This car scored the only result of it's career when it finished 3rd at Le Mans in 1969 at the hands of Hobbs/ Hailwood having aided the Ickx/Oliver car by sticking between it and the surviving 908 Porche for a time. What is often overlooked is that in the process it managed to get the best of a Matra 650 and steal the third place on the podium in the year that the GT40's were supposed to be obsolete and retire quietly. I've got IXO model LMC027. 2004 Ford GT - I've got the Ltd Edition version of this model by Minichamps which is in Diamond White. The Ford GT is back in the 21st century and that's brilliant! 2004 Ford GT - I've got the Ford 100th Anniversary Edition version of this model by Minichamps. Yellow and black look brilliant. #55 Mazda 787B "Renown" Weider/Herbert/Gachot - Winner of Le Mans 1991. This is one of the most awesome sounding endurance racers, not to mention good looking. I'm currently waiting delivery of IXO model LM1991, Le Mans Edition car. AUDI R8 #1 Winner Le Mans 2002 F.Biela/T.Kristensen/E.Pirro - I've got the IXO Le Mans series LM2002. Porche 917K Rodriguez/Kinnunen - Winner of the Daytona 24hr 1070. I've got the Minichamps Ltd Edition car. Scalextric (1:32) Here are some of my Scalextric models: 1966 1st, 2nd, 3rd place GT40 Mk.IIs - Scalextric set # C2529A. This Ltd Edition set of Mk.IIs (#2 Winner - Amon/McLaren, #1 2nd - Miles/Hulme, #5 3rd - Bucknum/Hutcherson) comes in it's presentation box and the models are unique in having weathered livery complete with oil stains and brake dust. The celebrate the 1966 1-2-3 victory of the 426ci Mk.IIs at Le Mans, the start of four years of Ford GT domination at Le Mans. 1966 #3 GT40 Mk.II Gurney/Grant - Scalextric model #C2029A. This Ltd Edition model is that of the #3 car which started the 1966 Le Mans from pole and was leading the race when, with five hours to go, it was forced to retire by mechanical failure. #9 "Gulf" Ford GT40 (rebuilt 1967 Mirage M.10003) Mk.I P.Rodriguez/ L.Bianchi - Winner of Le Mans 1968. I also have one other GT40 Scalextric model which is not Ltd Edition. It is a very nice model of the #9 car. The others - These are the other models I have which I don't have photos for: a. SWB SIIa Land Rover - Vitesse "Classic Cars" Ltd Edition model #28001, this blue model is very similar to the Land Rover that I own and differs only in that mine, being a late IIa, has the headlights in the front fenders (wings) and not in the grille. b. LWB SIIa Land Rover - Corgi "Millenium Edition" Truck Cab Land Rover. This model is chrome plated and comes in a presentation box with felt lining. c. 289 FIA Cobra - Unknown manufacturer model. Not the best quality, but OK. d. "DHL" Renault Kangoo Van - Vitesse Group model of quite nice detail. Came free with the delivery of some other models. No display box though, so I'll have to aquire one. Not one I'd pay for, but as I said, it was free. e. SWB SIIa Land Rover - Vitesse "Classic Cars" Ltd Edition model #28000, this green model has the headlights in the grille. f. SWB SIIa Land Rover - Vitesse "Classic Cars" Ltd Edition model #28002, this green model differs from the 28000 in having a cream hard top.
