A friend asked me whether I'd leave the RAF if I won the lottery. The answer is no. No lottery win will allow me to have such a rewarding job. However, a lottery win would allow for me to expand my hobbies somewhat. Born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, I moved to the UK in 1991 to chase a dream. That dream was to get my Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and fly in the best Air Force in the world, the Royal Air Force. If it'd been the 1950's era of the Sabre Mk.6 and not the 1990's, the the RCAF would have been my choice. However, 30 years of change meant that there was only one choice. Along the way I've picked up a few hobbies and obsessions. This site is dedicated to a few of the more notable ones. It is also a site of change, so have patience, I'll get there. Enjoy, Stew
Purpose of this WebsiteThis website is about getting in touch with all those who share an interest in the hobbies I participate in. I would love to hear from like minded people and love to hear advice, opinions or simply ideas from those who share my obsessions. It is also the medium by which I can encourage those who follow in the footsteps of adventurers like myself to keep dreaming, keep working and never give up on your dreams. I'm living my dream and believe that anyone can, it's just a matter of focus and dedication. There is no such thing as an insurmountable mountain. Finally, this website has another function. I'm a Canadian living thousands of miles from home and I've already met some fantastic friends through the web. Just before publishing the most recent version of this site, I had a conversation with another displaced Canuck and she and I would never have been friends if it wasn't for the internet.
Personal ProfileI am an RAF Pilot from central Alberta, Canada. I have an Honours Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and am currently working on my Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Certificate. Once I get the theoretical side of that done I hope to join the University of Athabasca (Canadian Open Uni) with the goal of getting my MA in History. I am also a member of the "Recreational Aircraft Association" in Canada, the "Popular Flying Association" in the UK and the "Arrow Alliance". I currently shoot with the rifle and pistol club on base.
Contact InformationIf you wish to get in touch, please feel free to email or use the feedback page listed above. I work in the UK, so I'm rarely at home in Canada, so email is best.
